Pokemon Journeys
“Pokémon Journeys” is the twenty-third season of the Pokémon animated series. It’s the first season of Pokémon Journeys: The Series. In Japan, it’s called Pocket Monsters. The show follows the adventures of Ash Ketchum and Goh as they travel through all eight regions of the Pokémon world, including the new Galar region from Pokémon Sword and Shield.
The main characters are helped by Professor Cerise, who is a Pokémon researcher, and his daughter Chloe, who is Goh’s friend from childhood. The season started in Canada on May 9, 2020, on Teletoon. In the US, Netflix got the rights to release future seasons, starting with Pokémon Journeys, on April 23, 2020.
Episodes were released in groups of twelve every few months. The show changed its airing day from Sundays to Fridays starting October 9, 2020. In the UK, it aired on Pop from September 1, 2020, and later on Pop Max from August 30, 2021.
In Japan, the opening song was “One, Two, Three” by Soraru and Mafumafu for 31 episodes and by Nishikawa-kun and Kirishō for 17 episodes. The ending songs included “Pokémon Shiritori” and “Strange and Wonderful Creatures” to promote the movie Pokémon the Movie: Secrets of the Jungle. The English opening song was “The Journey Starts Today” by Walk off the Earth.
